For the last 20 years Mike Darnold has been working with adolescents who struggle with addiction. In his early life he served 10 years as a police officer, owned and operated a large retail business for 20 years. Mike began working with teens in recovery starting at Charter Hospital in 1998, and then held management position for 9 years at Chapman Medical Center in Orange. One of his responsibilities at Chapman Medical Center was to provide outreach in all school districts in Orange County, California. This included training and education for staff, parents and students. Mike is co-founder of Coastal Mountain Youth Academy – academic and therapeutic program for teens in recovery.

Mike is Past President of the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence (NCADD) for Orange County, has served 9 years on a local school board, and is currently a member of the Orange County Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board, Local Schools Drug Policy Advisory Commission, Executive Board for Exploring Orange County, and Executive Board for Drug Use is Life Abuse. Mike is also the founder of the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp, a past District Governor for Rotary District 5320, Past President of San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society, and founder of San Juan Community Youth Task Force. After Mike overcame his own addiction to Alcohol in 1980, he committed his life to his passion of helping teens recover from the grip of addiction. He believes that by empowering parents and children, it will lead to a stronger community and clean and sober living. His devotion to at-risk youth is extraordinary. Early Intervention Team is the culmination of Mike’s efforts to help struggling teens and their families.
